I was asked this question recently, and thought to share my 2 cents. Is Google My Business worth it? Worth creating a FREE account and maintaining it? Of course it is WORTH IT!!! Engage with customers on Google for FREE. With this account, you get more than a business listing. Your free profile lets you easily connect with customers across Google Search and Maps.
Here is an example what your business profile may look like.

Step 1:
You can create your free account by visiting https://business.google.com/ . You will need to have a Google Account in order to create your business profile. Once you have your account, you can click on Sign In or Manage Account

If you are Signed in or clicking on Manage Account, you will be prompted to enter your business name in order for google to find your business. You can easily start typing, and google will filter out businesses for you automatically. If you are not able to find your business, you can click on the Add Your Business to Google link.

Step 2:
You will be prompted to enter your business name and agree to Google’s Terms and Conditions as well as Privacy Policy. In this section of the set up process, you will be guided with 5 easy steps to classify your Business Name, Your Category, Add a Location, Enter where you serve your customers, What region your business is in, and your contact details such as: Phone number and website. Do not worry, you will be able to change this later.
Step 3:
In order for your address to be approved, you will be sent a letter in the mail with a code, which you can register to the link provided in the letter. After this step is complete, your account will approved and it will look like the screenshot below. If you are a new user you will be able to claim $100 FREE Credit for Advertising your website.

I highly recommend, that you take your time with this step and go through all of the tabs to complete your profile and create a website with Google.
